So what food do you look forward to at Christmas? Is it the ham or potatoes? Maybe a special salad? I would give all that up for my favorite breakfast, Christmas Morning Caserole. My mom found the recipe when I was just a kid. I remember watching her make it the first time. Since then it has been a tradition. You make it ahead, then pop it in the oven before opening gifts. It comes out warm and yummy.
2 c shredded cheese
1 pkg little sizzlers cooked and cut up
4 eggs
2 1/4 c milk
3/4 t dry mustard
In 9x13 greased dish spread cubed bread, cheese, and sausages. Mix up eggs, milk and mustard and pour over the first 3 ingredients. Refrigerate overnight. In the morning mix up:
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 c milk
Spread over the top of caserole. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
Have someone else bring the cinamon rolls!!
I will warn you that some people don't like the texture, but, it doesn't bother me. I look forward to it all year long. Enjoy!
