We are looking for a new twin bed for Steven. We promised that when he stopped wetting the bed, we would start looking. It has been a long few months since September when we bought an alarm online, put flattened cardboard on his bed, and took away his big blanket so that he wouldn't sleep so soundly. Then we hooked Steven up to the ear piercing, shrill wetness sensor that only woke me up for the first few weeks three times a night. Steven went from not waking up, to waking up wet, to waking up with a spot, then waking up to pee all over the toilet and floor, to staying dry until morning. I am so pround of him.
Now back to the new bed. We went looking on Saturday at Ashley and Furniture Warehouse. There were no great deals and one salesman told us they do clearance in May and June. So we are waiting on the new bed. It is probably safer to give Steven a few months anyway. But we did walk around the stores and drool over the new furniture.
If there is one thing I wish, it is that we had bit the bullet and bought a whole matching set of something at the same time. I guess some day we will move the mismatching pieces downstairs and buy beautiful new stuff for upstairs. The other thing I always look at is black dining chairs. We inherited Grandpa Olson's Ethan Allan dining room set. I love the table, but hate the chairs. They are all captain chairs and very worn. So in my black chair hunt the "designer" at Furniture Warehouse approached me and was trying a tough sale of chairs for $300 a pop. Then he mentioned that he was off on Thursdays if I wanted him to do some work on my house. Oh, how embarassed I would be to have a real professional see my Early American/Contemporary/hand-me-down great room. He dumped me soon after for more affluent looking customers. I guess I deserved that!

That salesmand sounds like an idiot! In fact, most salespeople bug me, we had a vaccum cleaner salesman come to our door today, and he wouldn't go away! Anyways, I love hand me down furniture, that's what most of our is...someday I'll get to pick my own, but until then, I'm not going to complain about having something to park my butt on!
Ross and I have been looking for a new dining table and chairs -- it's ridiculous how expensive the chairs are!! We've been using my old cheap-o set, and we knew it was time to get a new set when his father fell through one of the chairs. Oops!! --Becky Matthews
We only buy furniture at Costco and Costco Home (Tempe seems to be the only location and its AWESOME). Everywhere else I start to go wish I had brought a gun to pick off salespeople who are threatening to irritate. If you get down to Phoenix, check out Costco home for both the twin bed and the chairs. Yum. They also have good online shopping with occasional sales if you are on their mailing list. And the stuff lasts forever!
I need your address for Christmas cards. Can you post it or email me? smithchelle@gmail.com
