Nothing Good to Eat

Just when you think you can't get any lower, you hit a new one. We have no good food at our house! We have lots of food downstairs, just nothing fresh to go with it. Dinner last night was just disgusting. Hot dogs and mac and cheese. That's not so bad except we had no milk to add to the mac and cheese. There are a few reasons for the bad food problems.

#1 is that I'm pregnant. Some women eat whatever they want. Not me. If I'm not barfing I'm having extreme heartburn. Eventually you run out of things you haven't heaved up for dinner. I know you all think you get heartburn, but then I see you popping a handful of m&m's and just don't believe that yours is as bad as mine. No chocolate, no tomatoes, no soda pop, no onions or peppers, and no ice. And this is with Prilosec or Prevacid. I tried a piece of chocolate cake last month and was sick for 2 days - totally not worth it.

#2 is it's summer. I don't like to cook when it is hot. The only things that sound good are corn on the cob and sauteed zucchini. It's going to be a while before we can get those out of the garden without paying an arm and a leg.

#3 the boys are out of school. It's just torture to take them both to the store at this point. They hang toys in every isle just to cause headaches. We came out of there today with a mountain of junk food and several varieties of kids yogurt because they can't agree on just one kind.

There are a few things that are working for me. One is rice and I finally learned how to cook it. You have to start preparing it an hour before you actually want to eat it. Measure out double water to rice ratio. Scoop in some salt - I don't know how much - and a couple tablespoons of butter. Bring it to a boil then turn it to low and put the lid on. Simmer for 40 minutes. Turn off the heat and leave the lid on for another 10. And you have rice that isn't chewy!

Some other great things are fresh fruit like apples, bananas and cantaloupe. I'm loving cooked vegetables. Especially cauliflower. Once chocolate is off the menu there are some other appetizing options. Caramel, lemon, banana, pumpkin. Just a warning, the vanilla frosties at Wendy's aren't so great.

I guess we will survive another 4 months of the bad food. Chris usually looses weight while I'm pregnant. My family would love a big pan of lasagna, but that would be too hard to resist and would make me sick. They will have to wait.

Seriously just eat McDonalds parfaits every day and that is all. Awesome!!!
I do not envy you but if that is what it takes to get the girl, that is what you do.
Its odd how we bring these babies into the world and we suffer before they even come.

Papaya juice. It seriously helps with the heartburn. One glass a day. Of course, it is better if you start if from the very beginning of the pregnancy. That way there is less damage done to the esophagus. But it will probably still help some. I always lose weight in the first few months of being pregnant. Eating is like punishment and by the end of the 9 months I never want to eat again. Until the baby is born, and then I can't get enough food into by body. So weird.

That is some serious bad heartburn!Yikes! And I think the suffering starts before the baby is born is God's way of making taking care of newborn seem easier in comparison. Pregnancy sucks. And Ron gains weight when I'm pregnant not loses cuz all I want to do is eat out. Hang in there! :)
