Summer is almost gone. Back to school in just one week. I didn't get everything done that I wanted to. I had high hopes. But the broken ribs and Chris's extreme overtime threw a wrench into most of our plans. We haven't used our trailer or gone on many field trips. It has been a month and a half since I remembered that I have a blog!
I took the boys camping with my family to Bear Lake in July. We had a great time and found out that all our gear will fit in the back of the van with the seat down. The boys played so hard with my nephews and my niece's boyfriend that they crashed into their sleeping bags every night. They didn't even notice when they slid off the air mattress and I pushed them back on. They loved collecting wood and making sand castles with Brad. I love spending time with my family camping. We always have great food and conversation.
The rest of my summer has been eaten by girls camp. I volunteered to be over the food. That was a lot of work!! For 2 weeks before camp I would wake up at 2am in a nightmare about running out of food. Then I would have to go eat something (because in my dream I was starving), then add to my ever expanding lists. My organization paid off. When it came time to pack I had everything ready to go. Somehow the garlic salt got lost - but we had everything else we needed. I think the girls liked the food. They were licking out the bags that the chicken salad was in. We had very few leftovers - but anyone who wanted seconds or thirds got them. Not sure I want to do that again, I'm still tired. BTW Chris was at Camp Steiner the same week and the boys went with Grandma and Grandpa to Yellowstone to stay in a cabin. I think the boys had the best time.
When school starts I'm going to be kid free for 3 hours a day. Maybe I can get some things organized in this house. I have new shelves that have been sitting in their box in the garage for over a year. Time to get those puppies put up. Next up: Canning season!
